Finch AI and The Texas A&M University System Partner to Support Academic and Industrial Research Integrity and Risk Management

College Station, TX – Finch AI, developer of powerful artificial intelligence solutions that accelerate analyst workflows, and The Texas A&M University System’s Research and Innovation Security and Competitiveness (RISC) Institute, which safeguards the integrity of academic research, today announced a new partnership designed to further the development of tools and approaches that protect the strength of the global academic and industrial research communities and promote risk management.

“We are incredibly pleased to partner with a leading voice in the research security space and to apply our technologies to help further its important mission,” said Finch AI Chief Executive Officer Steve Baldwin. “By harnessing the power of AI, and doing so in new and powerful ways, RISC will continue to secure academic research and protect the ideas and innovations that are borne in research institutions worldwide.”

Under this partnership, announced at the Academic Security and Counter Exploitation (ASCE) annual conference, Finch AI and RISC will jointly explore and pursue opportunities of mutual interest, including the development of new tools that support secure research; the development of a consortium as a means for members to exchange intelligence that helps overcome risk; and educational opportunities that grow and enhance the talent pool in the space.

“We are thrilled to announce this strategic partnership with Finch AI, a leader in artificial intelligence and data analytics,” said RISC Institute Director Kevin Gamache. “By combining our expertise in research security with Finch AI’s cutting-edge technology, we aim to develop innovative tools that will significantly enhance the security and competitiveness of both academic and industrial research communities. This collaboration represents a major step forward in our mission to protect sensitive information and foster a secure environment for groundbreaking research.”

A First-of-its-Kind Solution

Together, Finch AI and RISC will develop a first-of-its-kind, secure platform to protect research from exploitation by adversaries. The platform will include data on grants, researchers, research topics, outcomes, and participating public and private institutions. Leveraging Finch AI’s unique approach to surfacing non-obvious relationships in data, the platform will simultaneously accelerate research findings and outcomes while promoting the secure sharing of data and, thus, the integrity of the datasets themselves.

A Consortium of Like Minds

The partnership will also involve the formation of a consortium of researchers, academic institutions, industry partners and risk management professionals who will develop new data assets and identify actions to take to improve research integrity and mitigate risk from foreign adversaries. The group will lead the way in developing ever more comprehensive strategies for enabling safe data sharing and accelerating outcomes that advance the collective interests of consortium members and the broader community.

Educational Support to Grow and Enhance the Field

A third and critical element of the Finch AI-RISC partnership includes internship opportunities for Texas A&M University System students whose studies concentrate on artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science and semantic understanding. These aspiring data scientists, software engineers, and data engineers will have the opportunity to participate in the development, maintenance and operations of Finch AI solutions deployed across the Federal government and commercial spaces for a variety of risk management and diligence use cases, thus better preparing these students for careers in the field.

“We’re looking forward to developing new and powerful solutions, bringing together those who have a sincere interest in research integrity, growing the field and working together to do transformative things,” Baldwin of Finch AI continued. “This is the beginning of many more advancements and collective success.”
